19th Century oil painting of a Newfoundland This oil on canvas is American, although its subject was arguably even more popular in Victorian Britain than in the U.S. It is, in fact, a somewhat primitive copy of Sir Edwin Landseer's famous painting of a Newfoundland called Lazarus. Pep, the Jack Russell Terrier What a great name for a Jack Russell (now officially dubbed the Parson Russell Terrier by the AKC). This early 20th c. oil on canvas under glass was painted by Florence E. Stevenson (1894 - ?), sister-in-law of the late politician and presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson.
