$2,000 for the pair. Picture framed

19th Century oil painting of a Newfoundland
This oil on canvas is American, although its subject was arguably even more popular in Victorian Britain than in the U.S. It is, in fact, a somewhat primitive copy of Sir Edwin Landseer's famous painting of a Newfoundland called Lazarus. The painting is in super condition, as is the period frame.
$1,850
Ref.: p391
Pep, the Jack Russell Terrier
What a great name for a Jack Russell (now officially dubbed the Parson Russell Terrier by the AKC). This early 20th c. oil on canvas under glass was painted by Florence E. Stevenson (1894 - ?), sister-in-law of the late politician and presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson. She is a listed artist who had exhibits here and in Europe. Measures 17 3/4 X 23 1/2 with the frame.
$2,000
Ref.: p392
